Adding links to external resources can provide applicants with additional information or tools they need to complete their application. Civic Review users have linked to PDFs on their website, interactive maps, and online search tools offered by the local County or State. The possibilities are endless.

Where to Add Links:

You can include links in any Mark Down optimized field within your Civic Review form. These fields include the Paragraph question type and any other fields marked with the Markdown symbol:

It can be helpful to have a paragraph field with a hyperlink to tools or resources located just before a question asking for the related information (ie. zoning, parcel numbers, or an upload box for a related PDF form).

How to Create a Link:

  1. Place your cursor in the Mark Down optimized field where you want to add the link.

  2. Type the text you want to display as the link.

  3. Enclose the text in square brackets (e.g., [Click here]).

  4. Immediately after the closing square bracket, type the URL of the website you want to link to, enclosed in parentheses ([click here](https://www.example.com)).

Example:

Typing the code above would result in this statement within your form:

Click here to view a fantastic municipal permitting tool!

Tips for Effective Linking:

  • Keep links relevant: Make sure the links you add are directly related to the information in your form. Keep the links near related questions.

  • Use descriptive text: The text you choose for your link should clearly indicate where it leads.

  • Test your links: Before publishing your form, test all links to ensure they work correctly.

By following these simple steps, you can easily add links to your Civic Review forms and provide applicants with a more comprehensive and helpful experience.
