If Civic Review isn't loading correctly — pages appear blank, features don't work, or you see errors — your organization's firewall may be blocking the app. This article will help you confirm whether that's the issue and give your IT team what they need to fix it.
Step 1: Check Whether Your Network Is the Problem
Before involving IT, do a quick test to confirm the issue is network-related:
Disconnect from your work network. Turn off your office Wi-Fi and connect using your phone's mobile hotspot, or try accessing Civic Review from a personal device on a home network.
Try loading Civic Review again at https://app.civicreview.com.
(You can do the same thing with https://inspections.civicreview.com)
If Civic Review works on the external network but not on your work network, your organization's firewall is likely blocking access. Continue to Step 2 and loop in your IT department.
If Civic Review still doesn't work on an external network, the issue may be something else entirely. Please contact Civic Review Support for further assistance.
Step 2: Share This Information With Your IT Department
Once you've confirmed the issue is network-related, forward this article — or the section below — to your IT or network security team.
Information for IT Administrators
Civic Review is a cloud-based application that relies on a number of external services to function. If users in your organization are experiencing issues loading or using the app, it is likely that one or more of the following destination domains are being blocked by your firewall or web filtering policy.
Domains to Whitelist
Please ensure that outbound HTTPS traffic (port 443) is not blocked to the following domains. Wildcard entries are required:
Domain Pattern | Purpose |
| Core application, APIs, and assets |
| Backend infrastructure and services (hosted on Google Cloud) |
These entries should be added to your firewall's allowlist (whitelist), or removed from any blocklist or content-filtering rules that may be restricting access.
A Note on IP Address Whitelisting
Civic Review does not use dedicated or static IP addresses. Our infrastructure is cloud-based and IP addresses can change at any time, which means we are unable to provide a definitive list of IP addresses for whitelisting purposes.
We strongly recommend whitelisting by domain name (as shown above) rather than by IP address, as this is the only reliable long-term approach.
However, if your security policy requires IP-based rules and domain-level whitelisting is not possible, you may identify IP addresses that are currently being blocked under the domains listed above — for example, by reviewing firewall deny logs for traffic to *.civicreview.com or *.googleapis.com — and unblock those specific addresses. Please be aware that this is not a permanent solution, as IP addresses associated with these domains may change over time, requiring ongoing maintenance.
Testing After Changes
Once your firewall rules have been updated, have an affected user reload Civic Review from within your network. If the app loads correctly and all features function normally, the issue has been resolved.
If problems persist after updating the firewall rules, please contact Civic Review Support and include any relevant firewall logs to help diagnose further.
