Understanding Dates in Civic Review
When you're building a report or a certificate in Civic Review, you'll notice several different date options. While they may sound similar, each date serves a unique purpose. This guide will explain the difference between the most common dates you'll encounter.
If you look at this business license, you'll see three dates. Let's talk about them!
Key Application Dates
Date Applied: This is the day the application was originally submitted by the applicant. It marks the very beginning of the application process.
Pre-Review Date: This is the date the application was given a "Pre-Review" status. This is often used to mark the beginning of an initial screening before the formal review process begins.
Final Review Date: This is the specific day the application received its final approval or denial. This date is set by a reviewer.
Term Completion Date: This is the date the application was fully completed. An application is considered complete when the final review is done and all fees have been paid. The term completion date is whichever of these two actions happens last. For example, if the application is approved on July 1st but the fees aren't paid until July 5th, the term completion date is July 5th.
Date Deactivated: This is the date a license or permit was deactivated, either manually or automatically, due to reasons such as expiration, non-renewal, or administrative action.
Now that we've talked about dates related to the application process, let's cover some related to the application's term.
Key Term Dates
Latest Term Start Date: This is the beginning of the most recent valid term for the license or permit. This date can be the same as the "Date Applied" or the "Term Completion Date" if it's the first term. For renewed applications it will be the start date of the term.
Latest Term End Date: This is the last day of the most recent valid term for the license or permit. After this date, the permit or license is considered expired unless renewed (if it's a renewable application).
Latest Term Completion Date: This is the same as the "Term Completion Date," but it specifically refers to the most recent term for a license or permit that has been renewed multiple times.
