If you’ve been dreaming of a world where inspection requests don’t involve a mountain of sticky notes and endless games of phone tag, you’re in the right place.
We’ve officially rolled out our in-app Inspection Request feature, and it’s a total game-changer. This new feature is a free update for any entities who already have the Inspection App as a part of their plan. Continue reading to learn how to set this feature up and use it.
First Things First: The "Must-Haves"
Before we dive into the fun stuff, make sure you've got these basics (or reach out and we can help you get them set up):
The Inspection App: Ensure your entity has the Civic Review Inspection App included in your plan.
Project Types Created: Ensure that you've got project types created in the Inspection App for all the applications you'd like to do inspections for. You can create and link those in the Inspection App here:
Step 1: Flip the Switch (Enable Inspection for Permit Types)
Time to tell Civic Review which permits are ready for Inspection Requests.
Navigate over to the Permit Types section in your dashboard and select a permit type.
Find that beautiful checkbox labeled "Enable Inspection Requests".
Give it a satisfying click to turn it on.
Hit Save. (Seriously, don’t forget to save. We’ve all been there, and it’s a heartbreak we want to avoid.)
Step 2: Fine-Tune Your Inspection Request Settings
Now, let’s get specific. Head over to the Inspections App to customize how these requests behave. Navigate to settings and Inspection Requests.
Request Rules: Decide when the magic happens. Can they request inspections on weekends? How much notice do you need? You decide!
The Personal Touch: Customize the Instructions and Email Confirmations. This is your chance to give the applicant helpful hints and instructions to ensure they provide exactly what you need.
Step 3: Custom Inspection Reminders
Information is power! Let’s make sure your applicants know exactly what to do before the inspector even pulls into the driveway.
Go to the Inspection Types section and click on a specific inspection.
Add "Pre-Inspection Instructions" for your specific type.
These instructions will pop up for the applicant as soon as they've completed their inspection request.
Step 4: Review & Schedule
You’ve built it, and now they’re coming! Here is how you manage the incoming tide:
Head to your Inspection Requests Queue. This is your new command center.
The Details: Click into any request to see the "who, what, where, and when," including location maps, contact info, and those handy applicant notes.
Assign to Inspector: Schedule the inspection by picking a date and time, then assign it to your favorite inspector.
🎊 You’re All Set!
And just like that, you’re a Civic Review pro. Sit back, relax, and watch those requests roll in with organized, digital perfection. If you run into any snags, our support team is just a click away
Happy Inspecting!
