Building Internally-Added Standard Fees

Learn how to create standard fees that can be manually added to an application by staff.

Written by Lexi Ruesch

Conditional fees in Civic Review allow you to have fees automatically population based on what the applicant has selected within the application. However, there are instances where you may need to have a "manually added fee" that staff can add to specific applications (think penalty fees, publication fees, or one-time inspection fees).

Luckily, there's a way that you can set up these types of fees so they're easily available for staff to add when needed.

Step 1: Create the Fee

You'll start off by navigating and creating a fee just as you normally would. Here's a help article that shows how to create a basic fee.

Add the label, amount, and GL code.

Step 2: Add Impossible Conditions

Before saving the fee you're going to add some conditions that will ensure the fee won't autogenerate on any applications, but will be available on your Standard Fee list for staff to manually add when needed.

To do this, simply add a condition that will never occur in an actual application-I like to use "Applicant Name = Internal Fee" or something similar.

Now, save the fee!

Step 3: Test The Fee

You can test this fee by heading over to an in-review application and checking to see if the new fee shows up on your Standard Fee list.

Now, when you need to add this fee to an application you can simply select it off the Standard Fee dropdown and it will pop up with the correct GL code associated. You can click on the fee to adjust the name or amount.
