Inputting or Editing Inspection Types

When an inspection is scheduled or requested the user can choose from a dropdown of inspection options. This article shows how to add too and edit that list.

If you need a new inspection type to show up on the inspection type dropdown in the app, you can knock it out in about thirty seconds.

Here is the quick breakdown of how to get that new option added and exactly where you want it.

1. Find Your Settings

Depending on what device you’re using, your navigation menu might look a little different:

  • On a Computer: Look for the side menu.

  • On an iPad or Phone: Look for the menu bar along the bottom.

Click on the Settings Gear icon to open your configuration options.

2. Navigate to Inspection Types

Once you're in Settings, select the Inspection Types category. You’ll see a list of everything currently available in your dropdown.

3. Add and Format Your New Type

Click the Add button to create a new entry. Here's some tips for formatting and organizing your inspection types:

  • Consistency is Key: Matching the naming convention of your existing types ensures the list stays clean and searchable for everyone on the team.

  • Add some Pre-Inspection Instructions to specific inspection types. These can help applicants know what to expect during the inspection.

  • By default a confirmation email is sent to the applicant when their inspection is scheduled (added to an inspector calendar). You can remove that confirmation email on a case by case bases within each inspection type.

  • If you use the system to send out an inspection report, it will include a link for them to schedule another inspection. You can override and hide that option (if for instance it's the final inspection in the project series).

4. Save and Verify

Hit Save, and you’re all set! The new type will now appear in the dropdown menu whenever you or your team are scheduling inspections.

Quick Tip: This area is your go-to spot whenever you need to update or expand your list as your inspection requirements evolve. Happy scheduling!
