The permit screen is where all of the action happens. This is where you will approve or deny applications, communicate with the applicant, create plan reviews, etc.

For a more detailed explanation of the permit screen, watch these videos. For a more basic overview, read below.

Application Information

To see the information the applicant submitted, you'll look at the Permit Details. Here you can select each page, look through fields, and edit them if needed.

Application Summary

The permit screen includes several sections. We'll start with the Application Summary.

This section is where you will approve or deny applications. After the pre-review is approved, an email will be sent out to the other department reviewers letting them know it's there turn to take a look at the application. Notes for the applicant in this section will only be seen by the applicant after the FINAL REVIEW.

Communicating With Applicants and Staff

To communicate with the applicant during the process of reviewing, you will use the messages section. This will send an email to an applicant saying you sent them a message. They can communicate back to you through their portal. Other reviewers can see these messages as well, and can chip in if needed.

These messages will also be tracked in an email log, along with all other emails that are sent to the applicant by Civic Review. That can be found here:

To communicate with other reviewers or admin, you can use the internal comments.

Here you can also tag other staff members to send them a notification that they have a message.

Permit Overview

The Permit Overview gives you the general overview of the application. Here you can edit the email, permit number, and the status of the application.

To change the status of an application from Active to Inactive, or vice versa, click "Active," and the click again to see the dropdown menu. From there you can select "Inactive." This replaces the function of deleting an application (It is not possible to delete an application from Civic Review)

Fees

The fees can also be edited from this screen. If you click "View/Edit" you can access the fees.

Here you can add custom or standard fees, process payments, or edit individual fees. By clicking on a specific fee, it allows you to adjust the amount or even remove it all together.

Plan Reviews

Plan Reviews are useful for projects like building permits, where there will be a lot of adjustments and markups made on a document. It allows you to keep track of those edits. For more information on plan reviews, click here:

Inspections

Inspections are also used mainly for building permits. This takes you to a separate module (if you are signed up for it) where you can track and schedule inspections on buildings. For more information, click here:
